This mid sixties, West Hills traditional ranch boasts incredible views of Mt. Hood and downtown Portland.
Our clients had just relocated back to the US from China and wanted to transform this somewhat dated home into a vibrant, modern European-influenced space.
We wanted to expose the home to the spectacular view, installing giant bi-fold doors connecting directly to a brand new oversized deck. We remodeled the kitchen to maximize the clients entertaining capabilities, by creating a 25′-long custom fabricated kitchen island/dinning table.
What was once a formal lounge became a stunning home studio with recessed linear LED lights in a new tray ceiling.
The fireplace was rebuilt and like the floor, it was clad in fumed oak paneling with tons of custom built-ins for storage .
A monumental glass pocket door was added to the studio, for privacy.
Three bathrooms were fully re-designed, incorporating many custom walnut features, with standout white hardware.
The entire house was treated with brilliant white paint and a daring pop of electric green. The family enjoys the new family/tv area, featuring a custom designed Penny Black coffee table and full custom Addis Ababa rug.
Our clients adopted their daughter from Ethiopia—we decided to celebrate her roots by designing this map rug of Addis Ababa.
Finally, we created a reading room to contrast the light, bright areas in the home. Flooding the room with black forrest paint on the walls and styled with vintage furniture. Original artworks and a bold, silk rug. This room is now a cozy, intimate space to relax and unwind.
There are many custom features throughout the house, including the green velvet chairs, credenza, dining table and bench.
